I wouldn’t talk about being a None if I didn’t believe it was important to discuss important topics with an ethical, accessible, but not-specifically-religious framework. I believe in this work. But sometimes I feel awkward about the messaging, and don’t want to get it wrong. I love this beautiful picture, because I do feel as though I’m “peering out” at times. Conversations with others are helpful.
#Grateful
So grateful for an amazing conversation with https://gracefulatheist.com/podcast this week. As a None it can feel alienating sometimes to see yourself as the only one with that particular outlook on the world. Finding others who are, gosh darn it, just trying to put some good into the world is so incredibly life & energy giving. If you haven’t found Graceful Atheist yet, you need to follow that link over there soon!
Healing after Leaving a Cult
If you or someone you love is walking away from indoctrination, then I wish you strength during this transition. This episode looks at why victims join harmful communities, and ways to support leaving.

An Unlimited Potential
Community: I’m seeking to find it or build it, either one will do. One thing about us Nones is that there is almost unlimited potential to better organize. This article explores the largely untapped political power of Nones. [open for patheos link]
Practicing Decency: PechaKucha Chicago
The concept of celebrating an ethical life absent organized religion has been on my mind for years. I’ve tried sharing these ideas in various formats: here is my PechaKucha Chicago talk from 2018. I called my topic: “Practicing Decency.”
Speaker biography: Amy is a shameless heathen who tries to remember that it’s rewarding to be nice to others. She’d prefer not to create a cult, but don’t test her. https://www.pechakucha.com/presentations/practicing-decency
Reclaiming Pro-Life
The anti-choice, anti-woman, anti-abortion ideology corrupted the term “pro life” in reaction to Roe v. Wade in 1973. If you’re interested in, or tired of, the propaganda touted by an extreme reactionary movement, then learn how and why it is time to reclaim the term “pro life!”
Special Episode: Donations (What we Give to Charity)
This special episode talks about donating items we no longer want to keep can be a way to help others – but can also tug at our heartstrings as we struggle to separate our memories from our possessions.
Special Episode: What is the Border Crisis?
A special short episode, talking about what I believe is one of the current most urgent humanitarian crises in our country: the crisis at our southern border.
Clouding this crisis is an ongoing reference to this as a political issue. We, the public, are told this is a problem with immigration. I believe this is inaccurate. This is a problem of ethics. It is a problem stemming from the view that some of us are less deserving of human respect and decency than others.
